Three Tier Diaper Cake Recipe

Instructions

Roll 63 diapers, bottom to top and secure with a rubber band.

Top Tier

1. Place a rubber band around one rolled diaper.

2. Stretch rubber band and insert six other rolled diapers to surround the middle one.

3. Place a larger rubber band around the seven rolled diapers.

4. Take six unrolled diapers, stretch the rubber band and insert around the rolled ones sideways. Overlap the edges in a consistent manner to create a neat, clean look.

5. Secure by wrapping and tying white string around the tier (rubber bands can break).

Middle Tier

1. Follow steps 1 – 3 from the Top Tier Instructions

2. Stretch rubber band and insert 12 other rolled diapers to surround the middle seven.

3. Place a larger rubber band around the 19 rolled diapers

4. Take nine unrolled diapers, stretch the rubber band and insert around the rolled ones sideways. Overlap the edges in a consistent manner to create a neat, clean look.

5. Secure by wrapping and tying white string around the tier (rubber bands can break).

Base

1. Follow steps 1 – 3 from the Middle Tier Instructions.

2. Place a larger rubber band around 19 rolled diapers.

3. Stretch rubber band and insert 18 other rolled diapers to surround the middle 19.

4. Place a larger rubber band around the 37 rolled diapers.

5. Take the remaining 12 unrolled diapers, stretch the rubber band and insert around the rolled ones sideways. Overlap the edges in a consistent manner to create a neat, clean look.

6. Secure by wrapping and tying white string around the tier (rubber bands can break).

Ingredients

· 90 Pamper’s Swaddlers, Size 1 (63 rolled)

· 80 Rubber Bands, Assorted Sizes

· White string

· Cake Round or cardboard circle

· 9.5 yards Ribbon

· Dowel

Decorative and Topper Items: flowers, plush animals, baby shoes, baby booties, baby blocks, rubber duckies, etc.

Optional: baby related items can be hidden inside cake for extra gift surprises or used as part of the decoration. Baby washcloths, socks and mittens can be folded into flowers.

Assemble

Place the base tier on a cake round. Center the middle tier on top of the base, and center the top tier on top of the middle tier. To stabilize the cake, gently insert a dowel through the center diaper in the top tier and work all the way down through the layers to the cake round. Cut off any excess sticking out of the top tier.

Decorate

Use ribbon to cover the rubber band and string on each tier. To secure, tie ribbon with a bow, use a safety pin or use a glue gun. Add flowers or themed items to the cake and top with your choice of plush animal, flower or baby related item.

Please Note:

If using a glue gun, place a piece of wax paper between the ribbon and the diapers. This will keep the glue from damaging any diapers.
Keep all rubber bands and small cake ingredients away from small children to avoid choking hazards. The diaper cake is not meant to be a toy.
